How to migrate MYSQL to a new Windows server

  1. Setup the new Windows server
  2. Install the mysql on new server and stop the mysql service from service pane
  3. Now make a copy of the existing mysql data folder for backup( default path is C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.6\data)
  4. Delete all the contents from C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.6\data folder
  5. Copy and paste mysql data folder’s contents from old server to empty data folder on new server.
  6. Now only delete the server.err and Server-slow files from data folder
  7. Start the mysql service
  8. Connect to mysql server with old server mysql root password
